An evening at Rhinoceropolis, with MMCIII and friends.
Rhinoceropolis is a great place to see shows. It feels a little slap-dash haphazard and crazy, but drifting from room to room in this art gallery/show venue/ artist housing makes me feel homey and welcomed.
We showed up for the gang-buster night of bands on June 6th, a huge show that featured Dugout Canoe, Milton Melvin Croissant III, Fissure Mystic, Slight Harp and Vivian Girls.
While all the bands were innovative and led nicely into one another, for me and my guest the highlights of the night were New York’s Vivan Girls, a trio of musicians who played with reverby rock glory. They were stopping by Denver briefly before heading out to Kansas the next night.
Milton Melvin Croissant III was the biggest hit of the evening, however, as the Rhinoceropolis resident kicked off his tour with a hometown show. A one-mand mand using all sorts of loops and wild electronics, MMCIII (otherwise known as Buddy) but his heart and soul into an energetic, crowd-pleasing performance.
Wish him and all the other tourers from the show that night the best on the road!
