It\’s Rainin Men

The crowd at Civic Center filled up the entire park, with people packed in as far as the eye could see.

And yet, when Ms. Wash, the incomprable club diva, took the stage, everyone still had space to dance.

For PrideFest this last weekend, The Queen of Clubland was the perfect choice.   Free events and free concerts are a great way to catch some of the unexpected or legendary acts of the past that now make the festival circuts.  The Civic Center seems to have an offering of these sorts of shows on any given weekend.

Best known for her hit “It’s Raining Men” with the Weathergirls (you know it’ll be stuck in your head now) and the vocal “Everybody Dance Now!”  in the C&C Music Factory Song (she sued over illegal use of her voice in that song, by the by…)  it’s great to see an icon.

Plus she looked amazing.

Not the usual hipster rock, but for a free festival, damn it was fun.  And I haven’t stopped singing “It’s Raining Men” since.  I need a new song stuck in my head.
