Denver’s Own…
Denver based quartet Devotchka uniquely blends Romani, Greek, Bolero, Slavic, and even Mariachi music with American punk and folk roots. My Favorite aspect of Devotcka is the way they can incorporate all these different styles into one collective sound. I first saw them at Bonnaroo two years ago, and I was particularly impressed with the wide array of instruments, and the beautifully unique sound that they all created. Devotchka’s newest album, A Mad and Faithful Telling released back in March is vivid, imaginitive, unexpected, and an unconventional approach to the modern pop experience.
Tunes to check out: “Transliterator,” “Undone,” and “New World ” all of Devotchka’s newest LP.
Devotchka will be back in their hometown in the end of January, Playing in Aspen on the 27th and in Keystone on the 28th. More details can be found here.
