Reznor Announces New Drummer

Earlier this week, Nine Inch Nails’s Trent Reznor announced on his website, that 20 year-old Ilan Ruben of Welsh Band Lost Prophets will be joining the NIN at the beginning of 2009. Ruben will be replacing former NIN drummer John Freese and hopes to bring a new dynamic to the industrial rock phenomenon. The Lost Phophets made a name for themselves in the US in 2004 after releasing their major label debut “Start Something,” while their fan base has a larger scope on our side of the pond, the UK following remains devoted.

Here’s what Reznor had to say about the new drummer, taken from nin.com:

With great pride and excitement I announce the addition of Ilan Rubin to the lineup beginning next year. I had the chance to see Ilan playing his ass off at Reading and Leeds a couple summers ago and he blew me away. We recently invited him out to rehearse with us and he blew US away - the perfect guy to pick up the sticks after Josh leaves us at the end of the year.”

Denver’s Own…

Denver based quartet Devotchka uniquely blends Romani, Greek, Bolero, Slavic, and even Mariachi music with American punk and folk roots. My Favorite aspect of Devotcka is the way they can incorporate all these different styles into one collective sound. I first saw them at Bonnaroo two years ago, and I was particularly impressed with the wide array of instruments, and the beautifully unique sound that they all created. Devotchka’s newest album, A Mad and Faithful Telling released back in March is vivid, imaginitive, unexpected, and an unconventional approach to the modern pop experience.

Tunes to check out:Transliterator,” “Undone,” and “New World ” all of Devotchka’s newest LP.

Devotchka will be back in their hometown in the end of January, Playing in Aspen on the 27th and in Keystone on the 28th. More details can be found here.
